Thoughts of You

Artwork by Quirubin Boqueo

I.

Like rain
The thought of you
Causes thunderous clamor
Inside the confines of my lonely heart

Like rain
I am afraid
A droplet of your soul
Might make me, bare all

Like rain
I am to you
Catharsis
For your anger and misery
Stomping ground

Just like pouring rain
You are to me
Catastrophic
Forcing me into a state of fluster

Yet, perpetual inaction.

II.

I stand at war with my eyes
Blinded and smoke-stung from your toxicity

I stand at war with my lungs
Breathing from your firepit unstoppably

I stand at war with myself
Being complicit in my own misery.

III.

Remnants of your memories
Lie on the floors of my soul

I take these broken stars
Piece by piece
Carefully
Forming a moon

Redesigning
A love that is full
A love that perseveres
And rises above all

For the shortcoming of man
Is never his fate
But the fate he rewrites
With a blind hand.
