Let’s Get FriKKy

Searching for an exciting way to start your weekend? Does a free festival full of bizarre poetry readings, live concerts, clown installations, and DJ sets alongside dozens of artists exhibiting their art work sound appealing? If so, hurry and head over to the last day of the FrIKK Festival at Kohlenquelle in Prenzlauer Berg starting at 7 pm.

Tonight this non-commercial festival will showcase six events, starting with a humorous poetry reading by Conversation Gangbang, who focus their works on themes “straight from the root canal of the every day.” Two acts later, you will surely be enthused, frightened or merely mystified depending upon your affinity for clowns: “Harlekin Sokrates” will perform an improvised theatrical clown installation. Better yet, they openly invite audience participation. We are not quite sure what this will entail, but our interest is undoubtedly piqued!

At 9:30 pm, your ears will be treated to orchestral music by “02oder04,” whose lyrics discuss common happenings such as zombie attacks and girls in balloon silk suits. They recommend listening to their music over a nice glass of schnapps, and we say why not? The lyrics might seem even more surreal that way.

Finally, end the night by grooving at the FRiKK closing party, which will feature DJ sets by Box aus Holz, Blåbär, and Fräsh n Djucy. Find the full program and additional details here. Or better yet, get off your computer, go enjoy your day outside and get FrIKKy tonight!
