melancholy
I See Fragments of You in Me
On some days I find myself buried under the debris of our story,
Hurt, bleeding with the weight of emotions that once took my breath away.
On other days, I find myself burning like dying embers under the cold winter sky,
My body covered in the ashes of our lies.
On some days I see myself as everyone sees me,
Strong headed, bold and effortless
And then I see my reflection in the mirror,
Fragile and vulnerable, just the way you left me.
I see fragments of you in me, sometimes.
Laughing over things that cannot be mended.
Abusing myself for letting our love slip away,
I see fragments of you in me.
Some days I find myself tending to a heart so broken, a soul so shattered, a body so tired, that I wish I could undo everything we did, take back every word spoken, burn down every memory we have of us,
And disappear into the darkness, right where we found each other.
