Why Unrequited Love Is Good For Your Soul

Painting by Sergey Suvorov

When the love you emancipate

does not reciprocate

do not question the value of your strength

& when the softest of sweetness

turns to the bitterest coldness

do not regret that you act with intent

I see no measure in the output of love

& I won’t ever be frugal for the fear of too much

I’ll twine my love around your iron gates

Oh gardener, please cease to chop from above

Let life and longing grab you at your core

I only wanted to make you see you are more

& though holes in my happiness appear and implode

I do not plan to change the path of this road

When the love you emancipate

does not reciprocate

do not feel your integrity is damaged

the quality of honesty

is engrained in your empathy

& less will always feel it is more

The essence of love

is the hold of uncertainty

Find pleasure in the pain of too much
