Paul Kasmin Gallery –  Deborah Kass Opening – 6-8pm

It’s Thursday night, which means one thing: openings! Start your night off early with work by Deborah Kass at Paul Kasmin Gallery. This American artist has been making paintings that edge on Pop and Abstraction for many years, so dust off your art history book from freshman year to prepare yourself for some serious 20th century artwork.

Artists Space – Talk With Bob Nickas and Nic Guagnini – 7-10pm

You may recognize Nickas from VICE magazine and Guagini from the art publication Bomb, so this would be an excellent time to meet the writers in person. It’s not always that you get the chance to see two different perspectives from two very influential publications, so this one should not be missed!

 LeRoy Neiman Gallery –  Metaphysical Interventions – 7 – 10pm

Time to take the train uptown and visit Columbia University’s School of the Arts for an exciting group show. Featuring a wide array of artists from around the world including Brooklyn natives and an artist from Ecuador, this may be the show that could start the dinner conversation of your dreams.

Harvestworks – Husbands & Extreme Animals – 6pm-Close

Hailing from Baltimore, the band Extreme Animals has been making waves in the music world with their hyper energetic and playful sounds along with their colorful music videos. Tonight they team up with another band, The Husbands, for an early performance that is sure to make your eardrums rattle.

285 Kent Avenue – ICEAGE – 8pm-Close

Keep your music hat on and waltz on over to see the hottest punk band to come out of Denmark since…. Ever? Each band member is so young they aren’t even allowed to drink yet in the states, so make them feel welcome and enjoy their music (and sneak them a beer!).

Algus Greenspon – “The Starts” – 6-8pm

Start your night off right with a show curated by an up and coming artist! Sebastian Black is one of the most exciting artists right now, and fresh out of an exhibition that opened up in Berlin last weekend he’s back here in New York for a show he curated along with Mathew Cerletty.

Classic Six – “New York I Love You Sometimes” – 6-9pm

We all can be a bit cynical about the city sometimes, so come and hash those anxieties out at a group show curated by George Terry. Featuring some amazing New York artists like Joshua Abelow, you’ll feel right at home.

Schema Projects -“Drafted” – 6-9pm

There are a lot of new galleries opening up in the Big Apple, and it’s hard to catch them all before they become too well known. Be the first on the list at the inaugural opening for this Bushwick based gallery’s first group show.
