This is how it begins
Girl plays with dolls
Body grows into woman
Boy plays with cars
Body grows into man
Woman plays with words
But body fiddles in kitchen
Man plays with emotions
But body flinches and cringes
This is how it goes
Girl takes center stage
Boy shines flashlight
Man goes rogue
Woman is shield
Man hates nature
Woman is scapegoat
Bow down, bow down
Do what I say
not what I do
Soft is weak
Hard wins
Man is man
Woman is woman
We are not equal
Power is world
World is fire and blood
Flower and sunshine
And fire and blood
Flower and sunshine
And fire and blood
Until ashes meet ashes
And man and woman
create boy and girl again.
