This second day of Berlin Art Week will be a very wild wednesday! It’s the perfect time to use your guide to Berlin’s art jungle to explore the city. We are taking you to a Global Safari, embracing nature and the scenery of Berlin’s urban jungle: definitely very international.
– Neuer Berliner Kunstverein – “Archipel” 12 pm – 6 pm
Start the day off by checking out the “Archipel” exhibition at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, which showcases the work of Berlin-based architect Arno Brandlhuber who transforms the exhibition space into an insular urban landscape.
– Neue Nationalgalerie – “The Box” 10 am – 6 pm
Next up, it’s time to explore an indoor artistic tree-house of sorts as Paul McCarthy’s art installation “The Box” is on display at Neue Nationalgalerie. Don’t worry, it won’t be as messy as Paul McCarthy’s other artworks (pictured above!).
– Berlinische Galerie – “Vattenfall Kunstpreis Energie” 10 am – 6 pm
After a stroll around Tiergarten make sure to wander into the Berlinische Galerie where an actual forest takes over the exhibition space. Berlin is a wild (and very green) city afterall!
– Duve Berlin – ”Not Safe For Work” 12 pm – 4 pm
Their current group exhibition unites the ”minimal, trashy, conceptual and techy” work of five young artists. But the the only fact that makes it a group exhibition is that they under the same roof. The curator was very flexible, giving them autonomy to work and even the choice of self-classification.
– Skalitzers Contemporary Art – SKALITZERS PREVIEW 1 pm – 7 pm
They left their cosy gallery in Kreuzberg and have been working all summer to renovate a huge space (360sqm!) in Friedrichshain. We are very curious to find out how their new gallery space looks like! The wait is finally over and tonight they are opening their doors, showing a selection of works from Skalitzers artists between 2009 and 2012, as
well as the gallery’s permanent collection – displayed for the first time.
– Emerson Gallery – BUONGIORNO/ ARRIVEDERCI 12 pm – 4 pm
In the 7th edition of the Annual Summer Fest of International Art “Italy Meets Berlin”, you are invited to meet this group of Italian artist. Tonight, at 7pm, is the Vernissage of the current exhibition, displaying the work of Penzo+Fiore, Rebecca Agnes and Elisabetta
– King Size Bar – Artist Lutz-Bier Night 10 pm – 6 am
Starting at 9 pm until the early morning, it’s the special night of celebration of Berlin Art Week at King Size Bar. The music will be in charge of Marc-Alan Gray / MAG!, who promises to ”champagne it in the DJ booth for the sake of the art.”
