Weekend Opening Tour 24th – 26th May

Gallery exhibition openings are aplenty as always this weekend, the real problem will be which one to choose!

Thursday 24th Openings:

Kreuzberg Pavillon Group Exhibition “From the Sea Through the City to the Country” 8pm
Live music performance at 8:30 pm to accompany the exhibition. Sea, city, country. Will the exhibition be as varied as the locations it covers?

Künstlerhaus Bethanien 7 – 10 pm

Slawomir Elsner “Falkenrot Prize 2012”
The Falkenrot prize is awarded to someone who seems likely to set new standards in panting and other fields. You can therefore expect pretty groundbreaking and innovative art from Elsner, this year’s prize-winner who works closely with photography in his drawing.

Assaf Gruber “THAT WOULD BE TELLING” 25.5-17.6
Different medias and an uncategorisable style mean this experimental opening looks set to be a treat!

Friday 25th Openings:

FIGO Peter Pink “It’s my exhibition and I’ll play with my food if I want to”, 7pm – 2am
This is Peter Pink’s first exhibition and given the artist’s talent for humour, irony and the unexpected, this looks set to be an exciting opening lasting well into the early hours of the morning! “It’s about Revolution, Apocalypse, Freedom, Growth and last but not least Heaven and Hell” – ’nuff said! FIGO is also a venue of Rotebete, who are featuring this opening in their Art Crawl!

Uqbar Emmanuel Licha “How Do We Know What We Know?” 7pm
“media decided when a conflict started: it began the moment journalists arrived on the scene.” This exhibition features two videos which run as one and look at warzone coverage.

Zwinger Galerie Peter Duka “Ramaeus Neffe” 7 – 9pm

Using the title of Diderot’s philosophical novel, the paintings of this exhibition tell a story.

C/O Berlin

Rafal Milach Milach’s “7 Rooms”, 7pm
7 lives are shown in 7 rooms through photographs which capture a world in transition, caught between the past and present Russia, between idealistic communism and capitalism. Expect moving works from Milach, who will be present.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll in Larry Clark’s photography reveal the lives of America’s teenagers from the early 1960s to now! Clark is not only present in his photography, but will also be present at the opening.

Import Projects Group Exhibition “Technicolour Yawn” 6 – 10pm
Add a splash of colour to your Friday evening! Boredom and colourful overload seem to be opposing ideas, but at the same time connected in contemporary society! This should be an exciting opening at the new project space, Import Projects!

Galerie Sherin Najjar Miguel Rael “Can I Forget What Happened?” 7 – 9pm
We all have those memories we’d rather forget! Make new moments to replace the ones you’d rather forget tonight at this exhibition opening!
