The Waters Of Love Run Deep

Painting by Eric Zener

They say nothing is permanent
Then why are you on repeat in my mind
Like a film I can’t rewind

And the distance is like an island
I once used to frequently visit

The waves of you
Are filling up my ship
Faster than I can learn how to swim
Long enough to survive the wreckage

I’m trying everything
To reach the harbor
And survive the flood
But I’m drowning in it

No compass,
No atlas,
No message in a bottle

Can save me now

Missing you
Comes in waves
And tonight
I’m suffocating
