Put Down The Books, Grab Some Champagne!

It was a noble concept, a non-profit gallery for young and emerging artists to display their work without having to wade through the proverbial stew of hierarchy in the contemporary art scene. An elegantly simple notion backed by honest intentions. Small wonder that the independent exhibition space Autocenter has been such a successful venue since it was founded in 2001 and has become an integral part of the Berlin art scene.

That is why we were shocked to learn that the gallery will be moving from it’s current home in Friedrichshain to a new location. The place has yet to be made public, but, we are thinking, bigger and better maybe? Regardless of where this move may take Autocenter, it is a pretty good excuse to throw a party! You do not want to miss their location moving party this Saturday at 8pm which will include a performance by Dutch artist Anouk Kruithof entitled, “Ruhe” which translates to “calm.” This distinguished young artist has done everything from photography to temporary installations all based on human psyche and perception. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for art-lovers tonight at Autocenter! So head over to Friedrichshain for a great night of art beginning at 8pm!
