Perk Up: Berlin’s Best Weekend Art Events

Up and at ’em, artparasites! Time for you to work off those Christmas calories with some art parties, exhibition openings and dance offs. We know the cultural scene is merely crawling by these days, but we managed to pluck two events for you to check out each night this weekend. This is the last weekend events list for 2012, so voilà!

The Fishbowl – Live Music & English-Language Comedy ­– (8 Euro, 6 Euro with guestlist. Email: guestlist@thefishbowl.de)

If you have been dying to see some of the art of comedy unfold in a familiar language, BAPS has just the event for you! Head over the artist hotspot The Fishbowl to listen to live music by Frederik Konradsen, Rob Longstaff and Chris Glen in addition to a live comedy act. With this weather, we could all probably use a few laughs.

A-Trane – Jafricats concert – 10 pm

Ranked one of the 9 best jazz clubs in Europe, A-Trane is a destination in and of itself. Check out this famous venue tonight for the Jafricats concert, which promises to be experimental and full of charisma.

stattberlin – “A Place Near Vahma” Group Exhibition Opening – 7-10 pm (Free)

Itching to jump back in the art gallery circuit? Then be sure to stop by stattberlin to check out the opening of “A Place Near Vahma,” a group show featuring a diverse set of paintings, art objects, poetries, installations and live performances. Fight the comfort as the couch and hurry over as the show will end on January 4th.

Z-Bar – Film Screening – 8 pm (Free)

Z-Bar is hosting a screening of a German film composed of several interviews MBLN has compiled. The film seeks to demonstrate the diversity of Berlin’s cultural fabric. If you speak German, don’t miss the chance to learn more about the unexposed stories housed in the strangers you rub shoulders with everyday.

King Kong Klub – WE DESTROY DISKO! Party – 10 pm

If you are looking to groove to some “Rock’n’Roll/ Electro/ Indie/ Discotrash” music whlile off-beat films screen in the background, then hit up Mitte’s King Kong Klub for We destroy disko! . Boogie down!

  

Panke – You Art!! Party – 10 pm (Free)

 Stop by Panke’s make your own art event, Your Art!! Party. To join in the fun, all you have to do is bring photos of your work on your mobile phone (easy), and then you can make a necklace with free golden chain and other supplies to display your phone (which is displaying your art) from your neck. Stuck in the olden age with an olden phone? Bring your art framed and you can hang that from your neck. This will be a kitsch night at its best and a chance for you to strut your art stuff.
