Guerrilla Girls – Berlin Style

When the anonymous female group the Guerrilla Girls first started in New York City in 1985, the goal was to combat discrimination in the male-dominated visual art world. Now, 27 years later, the presence and driving force of the Guerrilla Girls is still influential as ever in the realm of contemporary art and the role that female artists play. Come celebrate the intersection of femininity and art at Club Gretchen with a Party Arty event that focuses on the talent and accomplishments of a group of female Berlin artists – surely a night that would make the Guerrilla Girls proud!

The 39th edition of Party Arty, “Female Spezially” promises to be a night of dynamic art and entertainment with live music from Emma Heartbeat and Frogg and DJing by Sarah Farina, That Fucking Sara, Kay Boogie, Ms. Freshfluke, and Hanne Lempka. The kick-ass female artists exhibiting at Party Arty are Ekaterina Mitichkina, SHOXXX, and a dance performance by QITC(Quiet in the Corner). And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s also spoken word from Sarah Bosetti, Josefine Berkholz, Arezu Weitholz, and Marion Hütter who will be showing excerpts from her film “poets and warriors.” Seriously, is there anything these ladies can’t do?

So come out to Club Gretchen in Kreuzberg this Saturday for a wild night full of drinks, dancing, and fierce female art at Party Arty. I hope you’re ready though, the festivities kick off at 10pm and don’t end until 6pm Sunday night!
