Grab Your Diary: Top Berlin Art Events of 2013

Christmas is over, the weather is miserable and everyone is full to excess. Time to start making new year’s resolutions – like taking more time to fulfil your art and culture monthly fix. We bring you the art highlights of 2013 so you can start making room in your diary. You can bet we will be there!

Long Night Of The Museums

March 16th 2013, 6pm-2am

Lange Nacht der Museen, or Long Night of the Museums, is a twice yearly event in which around 80 museums open their doors for extended opening hours. Although museum-orientated there is still a rich cornucopia of art on show at a number of venues, for example the six institutions on Museum Island. Transport is available to ferry you across the city and there are special concerts, performances and readings at a number of venues. The theme for 2013 will be “Ruined Diversity.” A great chance to explore the city culturally by night, a personal favourite moment during the last Lange Nacht der Museen for me was witnessing a choir singing at midnight at the Gemäldegalerie amongst the paintings of the old masters. Beautiful.

Gallery Weekend Berlin 2013

April 26th – April 28th 2013

One of the most important events in Berlin’s art calendar, Gallery Weekend Berlin sees an international crowd descend on a selected number of galleries for the last weekend in April. This year will see the event in its ninth year with a mixture of around 50 galleries (both young and old) across Berlin taking part. Some of our favourite galleries included are Galerie Guido W. Baudach and Kicken Berlin, whose upcoming show on Man Ray we are eagerly anticipating. Dust off your fur jacket and leather gloves and get mingling!
