This weekend’s forecast is snow, yet again! So warm yourself up with the hot events BAPS has selected in our list of top weekend events below. After all, ’tis the season to be merry! 

Thursday December 6, 2012

Art Connect Berlin– Opening Reception- 7pm

Typographer Otto Baum presents his latest works in AD HOC. Enjoy the Glühwein and a cozy artistic atmosphere with the people at Art Connect!

The WYE – Opening Reception – 7pm to 12am

VAGE presents “MATKA,” a 6 day exhibition of installations and works by Ryan McGennisken and Hollie M Kelley. Leave reality at the door and enter a landscape where fantasy, mythology, and the imagination reign supreme!

Atelierhof Kreuzberg– Opening Reception – 7pm

Thursday marks the beginning of Blows to the Temple, a 3-day exhibition and publication launch by the autumn residents at Node Center for Curatorial Studies that explores the process of routines becoming rituals.

Friday December 7, 2012

 Jarmuschek + Partner – Opening Reception- 6pm to 9pm

Painter extraordinaire Carsten Weitzmann will be presenting his second solo exhibition “ARENA.” In this new body of work, Weitzmann’s invented characters from his first solo exhibition enter the arena to… well, find out at the opening by asking Weitzmann himself!
 

Panke – 24 hr. Comics Marathon – 12pm

24-Hour Comics Marathon is an event held around the world that challenges writers and artists to create a full 24-page comic in 24 consecutive hours. Visit Panke at any moment during the 24hr cycle to get a taste of the work and endurance that these artists exude!

Kleiner Salon – Opening Reception – 7pm

Psiko Confused Kunst showcases the artwork of RallitoX. Caution: exposing your mind to these wild aesthetics might twist your thoughts!

Zur Möbelfabrik (ZMF)– Art & Floh Market – 12pm to 8pm

The Commercial Christmas Special Marker brings together Independent artist, designers, creatives, and writers for this event to display their wonderful creations amongst Glühwein, mince pies, and a live DJ set. Bi-winning!

Schneeeule– Grand Opening- 7pm

Who doesn’t love a Berlin’s signature temporary off-spaces. Well, we have another one to add to your list in the Berlin Carré: SCHNEEEULE. Suitable name for the weather, no? Check it out this Friday for the opening of a one-week exhibition with works by Awst&Walther, Maryna Baranovska, Laure Prouvost, Wilma Renfordt, Sabrina Schieke und Paul Sochacki.

Saturday December 8, 2012

 

Betahaus – Exhibition – 6pm  to 1am

Have you bought your holiday gifts yet? Here’s your opportunity.  Betahaus will be curating their first Christmas Design Market this Saturday. They’ve gathered the coolest designers in Berlin for this project. With hot Glühwein amongst hot people, this is an event not to be missed!

 Kunststück Berlin – Opening Reception – 7pm

Mother Hulda & the Seven Dwarfs” brings together myths, fairy tales, legends, fantasy, utopias, superstitions, and illusions into this group show of various previously selected participants. Sounds like a winning combination.

European Creative City– Open Studios – 2pm to 6pm

Over 30 international artists from the European Creative City studios will be opening their doors to the public. Come take a tour of the spaces and chill with them afterwards in the after show party with live acts and a DJ set. Free entry is always a plus!
