A Poem About How We Tend To Turn People Into Items And Unjustly Label Them
We tend to turn
people
into items
and attempt at
packing them
into beautiful boxes
on labeled shelves
where we say
this is what you are
and you can be
nothing else.
but,
we weren’t born
with tags and weren’t meant to be
tucked onto a shelf.
sometimes,
most times,
things do not fit
into boxes with ribbons
and handed your own package
where you are given
what you
are.
sometimes,
most times,
we just need to let whatever we are
be
without telling something
this is what you are
so that is only what you may be.
we are not meant
to live in boxes
and on shelves
in this
life.
